Visit the Haunted Houses of 2013

By: Katie Harris

Chamber of Horror, Forsaken Haunted House, Dents Schoolhouse, Factory of Fear, and The Land of Illusions are the hit attractions of this 2013 fall season.

The Chamber of Horror opened Friday, September 13. They are open Fridays and Saturdays, dark until 1 a.m. The general admission is $12 or you can purchase a VIP, or skip the line pass, for just $17. There is always free parking. It is located in Middletown.

The Forsaken Haunted House is located at 8200 Tyler Blvd. in Mentor, Ohio. I spoke to Diana Warner about this attraction and learned they have an average of about 80 actors and about 10 general staff working on a typical night.

“All 3 of our attractions, while different in their own special way, follow a special storyline, making your trip to FORSAKEN all encompassing. With that in mind we train our actors more than any other haunted house in the area. We have actor training sessions starting in March, all the way through September. Our actors are top notch because of this, and help us put on a great show,” said Warner.

Something to keep in mind about FORSAKEN is that it is an indoor haunted attraction. So this means, once you have your ticket, all lines and attractions are inside a heated building. “No rain or mud to walk or stand in at FORSAKEN.” This attractions is a zombie post- apocalypse themed attraction, so there are a lot of zombies. “We don’t like to discriminate, so we do have our fair share of crazy people, clowns, and victims,” said Warner.

FORSAKEN is open September 27th and 28th. Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in October. And November 1st and 2nd. Fridays and Saturdays they are open 7- midnight and Sundays from 7-10pm.

The Land of Illusion Haunted Scream Park features four haunted houses and one haunted trail. The haunted houses are Killer Klowns, Voodoo Bayou, Middletown’s Haunted Trail, Dr. Psychos Haunted Estate, and Temple of Terror.

At the Land of Illusions you can take power and hunt down and shoot zombies with the new Zombie Sniper Patrol. Using a paintball gun, you can shoot zombies while you take a ride on a US army cargo truck.  Pay one price of $34.99 on Fridays or Saturdays from 8 p.m. – 2 a.m. or $24.99 on Sundays (October only) from 8 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. for all of the attractions. Pay for Zombie Sniper Patrol separately for $15.  It is located in Middletown.
