PIQUA GETS GRANTS!

On November 13, the Piqua Community Foundation had an annual meeting, where they give out grants to nonprofit groups in the Piqua area. The event took place at the Piqua Country club, where Steven Staley gave out grants to the groups.

Daniel Ramer, president of the Piqua Community foundation helps put together the event with Karen Wendlen. The community foundation has been around for twenty years and has been giving grants for nineteen years.

Lehman, Piqua Catholic, Piqua High School, and many other nonprofit organizations were given grants. Piqua High School’s Marching band, the¬†Newspaper Class, as well as Mrs. Buchanan got grants.

The Newspaper class got a grants for new cameras, and Buchanan got her grant for Shakespeare plays for her classes. Marching Band got a grant for their new uniforms after fifteen years of using the current ones. Some non-profit organizations got mini grants, while others got standard grants.

The Piqua Community Foundation made grants totaling $86,645.50 to a variety of local non-profit organizations and schools from the Piqua Community Fund in 2013.
