Write your way through November!

By Faith Branson

NaNoWriMo is a nonprofit organization where they believe your story matters! Their main program is NaNoWriMo, the biggest writing event in the world. It takes place in November which is National Write a Novel month when 500,000 novelists join in the literary chaos.

On the NaNoWriMo website they provide a word-count, deadline-tracking tools, and an incredible online community. Also, on the website they share what they call “pep talks” from published authors. “Pep talks” are inspirational letters written by well-known authors during NaNoWriMo. The letters will be sent to your NaNomail box in the month of November.

The novelists who participate in NaNoWriMo are expected to write a novel in a month with 50,000 words or more. If you write over 50,000 words then you can submit your novel starting November 25, and they will declare you an official NaNoWriMo winner! You will also be able to collect a few prizes. If you don’t reach the 50,000 words, its okay. There is always next year and you’ll just be more motivated to reach that goal next time.
