Insurgent: Movie Review

By Faith Branson

Last Thursday I saw the movie Insurgent, the second in the Divergent series. I’m a lover of the books and so far the movies are pretty good. Divergent, I felt like was really close to the book, but the movie Insurgent had it’s moments of brilliance when comparing to the book itself.

The acting was perfect as always, and I felt like everyone portrayed their characters very well, especially our power hour hero couple Shailene Woodley (Tris) and Theo James (Tobias). Whenever those two were on screen, it was like you couldn’t look away. Together they really made it feel like you were in danger with the factions. Also, let’s not forget the bad guy who got worse and then became a life saver: Miles Teller (Peter). I hated him; then loved him by the end for saving Tris’s life.

From the trailers I felt like I was not going to be a fan of the movie just because of how different it looked from the book, but after seeing it, I realized that the director just combined multiple chapters together. Therefore, it really was a great movie!!

I’m waiting on the edge of my seat for Allegiant, and I can’t wait to see what the actors/actresses bring to the screen! Also, I’m looking forward to how exactly they are going to bring some parts of the book into the movie. Insurgent is a movie I highly recommend; but I suggest reading the books first!!
